This prominent site is located within easy walking distance of Princes Street, Waverley Station, and visible from Calton Hill. The site is within the New Town Conservation area and as such the scheme was required to meet stringent policy requirements and be justified by substantial background analysis.
Urbis was approached by the client to work with the appointed architects to review the proposals and refine these in order to improve commercial viability and achieve agreement with the Local Authority on Planning issues. The consent was granted in February 2008, for 175 bedrooms , two retail units, and underground car parking.
