Urbis were part of the team which delivered the Neilston Charrette which developed the previous work connected with the Neilston Charter.
We led the Housing Opportunities thematic group which examined the need for new housing, particularly for those looking for convenient access to amenities. By doing so the infill site opportunities could help repair the historic development pattern and recreate the public realm in the village centre.
Seven sites were identified within the village which provided opportunities for new housing which could be economically delivered in the short to medium term.
Options for each site were discussed at the working group sessions with the community, resulting in preferred solutions which were then costed.
The results of the Charrette process were incorporated within the East Renfrewshire Local Development Plan: Supplementary Planning Guidance Neilston Infill Development Strategy.
